Art and Design Department News!
Travelling Gallery Visit June 2023
Pupils had the chance to visit the Travelling gallery last week which is a custom-built mobile gallery that tours the whole of Scotland. The gallery is housed inside a bus, which for this season’s tour of Argyll has been supported by Talc, Tarbert to visit Campbeltown Grammar, Lochgilphead High School and Oban Esplanade. For 2023, the overall theme linking the three exhibitions in its annual Contemporary Art program is “Collective Care”.

January 2020 - Aardman Animation Workshops!
In partnership with Campbeltown Picture House, we were privileged this month to be visited by Jim Parkyn and Alasdair Satchel from Aardman Animations, the creators of Wallace and Gromit, Morph, Chicken Run and many others. The pupils learnt how to make Morph as well as Gromit out of coloured clay. It was a really successful event with a lot of fun had by all. We hope to be doing some stop motion animation with them in the next few months. Some photos of the event below.

January 2016:
Congratulations to Megan Campbell and Nicola Wareham on their recent success in the Junk Kouture competition. They had to produce a couture outfit for a fashion show made entirely out of material that would otherwise have been thrown out. The girls chose a Scottish theme for their outfit and made a skirt out of tartan covered cardboard with walkers crisp packet frills, an old top with a spray painted thistle motif and pipe cleaner/sequin highlights, with tartan tablecloth flared sleeves, a bonnet made out of an old wicker basket and old cream containers stuck together to resemble the drones of bagpipes and old slippers, painted black with string attached to resemble Scottish highland dancing shoes. Megan will be modelling the outfit on February 5th in the Glasgow concert Hall. |
